Methods to Distinguish the Quality of Quartz Sheets?

Quartz sheets exhibit strong high-temperature resistance, low thermal expansion coefficient, excellent chemical stability, superior electrical insulation, stable ultrasonic delay performance, UV transmission properties, as well as visible and near-infrared light transmission capabilities. They also possess higher mechanical strength than ordinary glass. As a result, they are indispensable high-performance materials in modern technologies such as space technology, nuclear energy, defense equipment, automation systems, as well as industries including semiconductors, metallurgy, chemicals, electric light sources, communications, light industry, and construction materials.

So, how can we distinguish the quality of quartz sheets?

  1. Smell Test – High-quality quartz sheets are made from eco-friendly materials and have a natural stone-like smell. Inferior quartz sheets, produced with formaldehyde-containing adhesives, emit a strong formaldehyde odor. Such low-cost sheets should never be selected, as they pose health risks.

  2. Check for Surface Pores – The presence of pores indicates poor-quality quartz sheets.

  3. Inspect Joint Gaps – A high-quality product will have barely noticeable seams.

  4. Scratch Test – Use a key or a penknife to scratch the surface. Deep and obvious scratches indicate substandard quality.

  5. Sandpaper Test – Rub the surface with sandpaper (below 200 grit). If the quartz powder flakes off easily, the product is unqualified.

  6. Examine Cutting Edges – If the cutting edges show chipping or cracks, the quartz sheet is of inferior quality.
